 Youth F.I.T. Farm camp

(F.I.T. =  Farmer In Training )

Together we'll establish the
"Rites of Passage"
for your little Agrarian!
Growing up my mom and dad would send us to spend the week on my aunt Desella’ s farm because they knew the exposure to the land, animals, and the food produced gave us a chance to explore nature in a hands-on way -  an experience that is often missing in today's fast-paced society filled with electronics.

In today's world, we have all but lost many of the traditional farming rites of passage as we have moved from an agrarian society to an urban society.
Idyllic Slak Market Farm is the closest you will come to re-creating the comforting rituals and daily rhythms only experienced on a working farm.
We see the value in many of our agricultural traditions that mark a transition from a child on the farm to a fully contributing member of the farming tribe.
Farm Camp at Slak Market Farm is a fun-filled learning experience where your child will spend the week fully immersed in the daily workings of our farm.
Campers will spend 1 week here on our farm, learning how to interact and understand where their food comes from, and to impart a greater appreciation for the effort that farmers make to grow healthy, fresh food, and also have a basic understanding of how food directly affects how we feel.
This will make a great gift for any child ages 6-12.
Your child has the option to attend Farm Camp for one-week, Monday thru Friday, from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and due to covid measures there is a limit of 12 kids per camp and so we are making 5 camps available this year.

The weekly sessions of camp will be held on:
May 23rd - 27th
May 31st - June 4th
June 14th - June 18th
July 5th - July 9th
July 19thth - July 23th

Below is a short sample overview of each of the days:
Daily - bottle feed the baby calves, collect eggs and feed the chicks and move the chicken mobile coops, Journaling. A healthy snack & water will be served daily and the farm will provide lunch on Friday only.
. ● Monday - Learn all about and hold chickens, turkeys, and help care for the baby chicks.
 ● Tuesday - Care for and milk the cows and use the milk straight from the cows  to help make yogurt, butter, cream cheese and or ice cream!
● Wednesday - Spend the day learning all about the goats and sheep.
● Thursday - Visit our greenhouse and or vegetable garden and learn about and help care for the plants.
● Friday -  Learn about the importance of our "living" soil, honey bees, meet and maybe get to ride the donkey Sisco. Friday lunch we make pizza from our  garden veggies and fresh cheese. Play around and re-visit all the animals.
